just replace the words “in a book" with the words "on the internet" and there we are, America… ( _ j0sh _ )
OK, this is a long overdue follow-up on my completed tattoo, after my 2nd session under the electric needle, back in July. (yeah, it’s been a while, my bad.) as mentioned before, all skin-carving was done by a hell of an artist & a real samurai with a tattoo needle, my good friend Amy Nicholls at Tattooed Heart Studios in Glen Burnie, Maryland.
the original artwork is a pre-Raphaelite painting titled "The Valkyrie’s Vigil" by Edward Robert Hughes (circa 1910, approx.) more info & pics of the original from Wikipedia here. from a personal standpoint, i’d long wanted a Valkyrie design of some sort for a number of reasons, including my fascination with Norse mythology. but the usual comic-book style gold-armored warrior woman was not really the image i wanted on an emotional level, i needed something more somber, more conducive to reflective mourning, in a similar vein to my existing tattoo in that sense. there’s a lot more to it all that goes on in my head, but that’s where it’s staying.
and the crowd goes wild…
gradually working on returning to some form of activity on this website, among others. been a hell of a few months here, but i’m glad to see everyone i follow on this thing is as gorgeous, talented & totally cool as ever, if not more so. nice work on that. as for me, gimme a couple days to get caught up & all that, then i’ll be ready to go again. to go & do what exactly, i don’t know, nor do i really care. the past is a funeral pyre & the future is a forest of living tinder. so let’s all burn down together…
